Have you ever tasted turtle-brownies?

Turtle-brownies are made with a delicious fudge brownie recipe. They are then layered with caramel, nuts and chocolate chunks. Theses were a kitchen experiment gone right! I hope that you enjoy these as much as I enjoyed creating them! You could leave the nuts and chocolate chunks out and just make caramel brownies. You will be proud to say that these are a homemade brownie recipe. Don't forget to share it!

Turtle-Brownies

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups butter melted
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 (12 ounce)package of semi-sweet chocolate chunks (divided)
  • 2 cups coarsely chopped pecans or walnuts (divided)
  • 1 small bottle of Hershey's Caramel ice cream topping.( I like the squirt bottle.) (We won't use it all!)

Directions:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Line a 13 x 9 inch pan baking pan with aluminum foil (heavy duty)and grease or spray with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Combine melted butter and cocoa powder into a medium bowl and mix well. Set this aside.
  • Next, in a large mixing bowl, beat your eggs and sugar at medium speed. Do this until they get fluffy. This will take about 5 minutes.
  • Add your butter and cocoa mixture to your eggs and sugar.
  • Add your flour, salt and vanilla. Mix just until combined.
  • Now, Spread only half of your brownie batter into your prepared pan.
  • Drizzle a layer of your caramel sauce over top of your brownie batter.
  • Sprinkle half of your chopped nuts and chocolate chunks over the caramel sauce.
  • Now drizzle a little bit more caramel sauce over top of your nuts and chocolate chunks.
  • Spread your remaining chocolate batter evenly over top of the mints. (Please do this carefully!)
  • Repeat the layering steps for the caramel, nuts and chocolate chips.
  • Bake in your oven for about 35 minutes.
  • Let completely cool in your pan before serving.
  • Enjoy!
