What is white-trash?

White-trash is a delicious snack mix. ( I hope the name of this recipe doesn't offend you!) Popcorn is combined with other ingredients and tossed in a coating of white chocolate and English toffee bits. This enables the popcorn to simply melt in your mouth. Your children, co-workers, friends and family will rise and call you blessed when serving it!

This recipe is great and I hope it becomes one of your favorite flavored popcorn recipes. For a great gift idea, give some in a jar or cellophane gift bag with ribbon!

Warning: This very addictive!

Ingredients:

  • 16 cups air popped popcorn
  • 3 cups frosted Cherrios
  • 1 cup Lucky Charms cereal
  • 1-1/2 cups pecan halves
  • 1 package (14 ounces) milk chocolate M&M's
  • 1-10 ounce package English toffee-bits
  • 2 packages 10-12 ounces each white chips
  • 2 Tablespoons of vegetable oil

Directions:

  • In a very large bowl, (If you do not have one, use a large trash bag!) combine popcorn, cereal, pecans, M&M's, toffee bits and pretzel sticks.
  • Gently toss these ingredients until well mixed.
  • In a microwave or a small heavy saucepan, melt chips, and vegetable oil.
  • Pour your melted chips over your popcorn mixture and gently toss until well coated.
  • Immediately spread mixture onto two wax paper lined baking sheets.
  • Let stand until dry.
  • Store in an air-tight container.
  • Yields: 32 cups or about 9-1/2 quarts.
  • Enjoy!

Variation: Please be brave and experiment with your own combinations. You could use peanuts or cashews instead of pecans. Use your imagination!
